These include Prescription wells in Ohio, a horizontal directional oil well in Texas, the wells in Australia, and a Susquehanna gas field in North Carolina. These practices are undertaken as part of the exploration and production of these types of gas fields.

All site preparation, testing, drilling and production must be carefully monitored. This includes the use of chemicals, monitoring and the use of closed-circuit TV camera systems. A good plan also should address the groundwater contamination that can occur when liquids are improperly injection. Contamination of this type is highly unlikely, but it is important to implement measures to reduce the chances of groundwater contamination.
