Graduation party planning isn’t very much different from other celebration planning. A graduation party can vary based on the age of the graduate. It may cover anything from a get together for a child graduating from preschool, to a bash for the med student finishing up his/her doctorate degree.

No matter the age or point in life, the graduate has carried out a major process in life and this milestone deserves appropriate acknowledgment and celebration. It’s an opportunity to think outside the box when celebrating many years of hard work and accomplishment.

The kick off point of any party is not surprisingly the guest list. If you’re organizing a graduation party for the youngster, planning it won’t be as elaborate or challenging as it could be if you’re throwing a graduation party for the child who will be completing college and trying to figure out his circle of friends. If this is the case you should start the planning process as soon as possible to allow yourself the extra time needed to accomplish this portion of the planning stage.

In an effort to fail proof your graduation party planning you need to get the graduate involved. Given that this celebration will be about one specific student, that student needs to have some say in the planning, unless of course this will be a surprise. With the graduate assisting with the party planning you’ll have the guest list pretty much built for you. All you have to do is include a handful of friends and relatives of your own, and your list is complete!

To quiet your anxiety you need to walk-through the key things that need to be accomplished. Your uncomplicated graduation party planning will be to mail out invitations, arrange for a caterer, plan for house cleaning and spruce up, arrange for some form of entertainment. You may want to hire a photographer as well. Other things to do would be to get decorations, arrange games and prizes, buy party favors and of course set a budget for the event.

Picking out decorations and party supplies for any kind of graduation party is only difficult for the reason that they have a great number to select from. Nowadays they make so many various types of party supplies you should have a fairly easy time of locating the appropriate decorations for your particular graduation party theme. You could also decorate making use of the colors of the school that the student is graduating from. Including a banner with the school name and year, is another party decoration to consider.

There are many ideas for graduation party favors . Start your party planning early and you can easily find inexpensive party favors and gift items with the graduation year and perhaps even the school colors. Some party favors could even be personalized using the school name and the graduate’s name such as candy bars and custom pens.

Some other ideas for the celebration would be to consider getting a cake that’s in the shape of the year of graduation. For a more one of a kind approach, opt for a unique theme instead of just a graduation theme. Throw the grad a beach party, a masquerade party or even a blast from the past party. Also, you can provide food that enhances the theme of the graduation party.

Following all the planning you will need to have a very thorough checklist which will include table decorations, dinnerware, outdoor tent rental, invitations, thank you cards, whether are you going to co-host with another parent, along with things like taking household pets to a friend or relatives house. All this is in date order beginning from 90 days out and including day to day activities prior to the party along with an exact strategy for the big event.

Despite all the planning and possible stress involved you want to look at this event as the chance to make many years of struggle and frustration in to a joyful, nostalgic experience – not just for the graduate but also for you as the parent or party planner. Graduation party planning boils down to honoring the academic years of the past and looking forward to the future.

Mother’s Day is among the most well liked holidays in the country, and one of the largest days for flower shops, card stores as well as other sellers of gift items. But how did one of the most popular holidays get started? When did we begin setting a day aside to commemorate moms and everything they do with regards to their family members?

The history of Mother’s day can be traced back to ancient Greece, where the annual springtime festival was celebrated honoring Rhea, the wife of Cronus, and mother a number of Gods and Goddesses.

Early Romans are also thought to have commemorated this day known as Hilaria during the spring event to pay tribute to Cybele, a mother goddess and traces back to about 250BC.

The first Christian believers celebrated the Mother’s festival on the fourth Sunday of Lent to recognize Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. Interestingly, at a later date a religious order extended the holiday to add all mothers, and referred to it as the “Mothering Sunday”.

The colonists that settled in America ended the custom due to a lack of time. However, in1872 Julia Ward Howe organized a similar day for mothers dedicated to peace. It’s a milestone in the historical past of Mother’s Day.

The present day Mother’s Day holiday came to be when Anna Jarvis created a day to be for every family to pay tribute to its mother. Anna Jarvis was the child of Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis. On 12th May, 1907, a couple of years following her mother’s passing, she held a memorial to her mother and in addition began a campaign to make “Mother’s Day” an acknowledged holiday. She succeeded in making this nationally recognized in 1914.

Mother’s Day is celebrated worldwide at various times throughout the year. However, some countries including Denmark, Finland, Italy, and Australia also celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May as we do in the United States.

Some of the common traditions practiced around the world include things like:

1. Wishing your mother a happy Mother’s Day by giving her a card,

2. Visiting your mother in the event you haven’t seen her for some time,

3. Getting in touch with your mother by phone.

4. Giving her a gift of personalized mother’s day candy bars.

5. Sending her flowers or a gift basket.

No matter your gift giving decisions, it should always be a day of celebrating love and gratitude for mothers everywhere. More and more frequently this also signifies honoring the individuals in our day-to-day lives that have been like mothers to us, mother’s bonds in general, as well as the positive contributions that they make to society.

What is your mother’s favorite Rose color? Classic Red?, Pink, White? How about imprinting your message in 24kt Gold? Say I love you Mom!

Mothers Day Gift Baskets

Flowers carry a lot of sentiments and this is beautifully expressed when they are grouped together to form an Easter flower basket or bouquet.

Thanksgiving Is Not Just an “American” Holiday

Giving thanks on Thanksgiving is an important American tradition, but it’s not ours alone. In fact, six other nations besides the U.S. have officially declared Thanksgiving Days: Brazil, Canada, Japan, Korea, Switzerland and Argentina. Thanksgiving celebrations have also been celebrated for hundreds of years, including in some ancient cultures.

The Greeks
The ancient Greeks celebrated a festival of the harvest called Thesmosphoria each autumn. Their goddess of corn and other grains was Demeter who was honored at the festival.

The Romans
The Romans also celebrated a fall harvest festival in honor of their goddess of corn, Ceres (where the word cereal comes from). The Romans celebrated a Thanksgiving feast where they offered the first fruits of the harvest and pigs to Ceres. Their Thanksgiving was held on October 4th each autumn.

The Chinese
The ancient Chinese celebrated their harvest festival, Chung Ch’ui, in accordance with the full moon that fell on the 15th day of the 8th month. They considered this day to be the birthday of the moon. Special “moon cakes” were baked and stamped with a picture of a rabbit to honor their belief that a rabbit is on the face of the moon. These cakes were eaten with a Thanksgiving meal during the 3-day festival. It was believed that flowers would fall from the moon during the festival and those that saw the flowers would soon receive good fortune.

The Hebrews
Jewish families also celebrate a harvest festival called Sukkoth. This autumn festival has been celebrated for over 3000 years. Sukkoth begins on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Tishri, 5 days after Yom Kippur, the most solemn day of the Jewish year. The holiday is named for the huts (succots) that Moses and the Israelites lived in as they wandered the desert for 40 years before they reached the Promised Land. Sukkoth lasts for 8 days and Jewish people construct temporary huts from branches with a covered roof made of with foliage that allows the natural sunlight in. Fruits and vegetables, including apples, grapes, corn and pomegranates hang inside the hut and on the first 2 nights of Sukkoth, the families eat their meals in the huts under the evening sky.

The Egyptians
The ancient Egyptians celebrated their harvest festival in honor of Min, their god of vegetation and fertility. The festival was held in the springtime, the Egyptians’ harvest season and featured a parade in which the Pharaoh took part. After the parade a great feast was held with music, dancing and sports as part of the celebration. When the Egyptian farmers harvested their corn, they wept and pretended to be grief stricken to deceive the spirit which they believed lived in the corn.

About the Author

After many years in the IT/Tech industry, I fell into SEO in 2006. I am now a self-employed SEO/SMM (Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Marketing) and owner of SEM Simple.com based in the New York City area. As an SEO, I regularly write copy that will attract high search engine rankings and increase on page visit time. Sound like fun? Well, for me it is. Writing is just one of many creative outlets afforded to me by the SEO/SMM industry. I have an opinion on everything and will write about pretty much anything. I am Google Adwords certified and ALZA certified for PPC and SEO. When I’m not with a client, an ironic tee with jeans is my uniform and sarcasm is my drug of choice.
